Mel Tiruneh is Senior Director of 7-Eleven Canada, Inc. He is responsible for 7- Eleven’s 600+ company-operated retail store merchandising needs in Canada as well as developing, maintaining and implementing strategic and tactical plans supporting store growth and overall profitability for the country.
Prior to his current role, Tiruneh was Market Manager of Operations in British Columbia responsible for 110 corporate sites from 2015 - 2017. From 2011- 2015, Tiruneh was Senior Category Manager for fresh food and snacks where he was responsible for reengineering the chicken program and expansion.
Tiruneh began his career with Lab One Reference Laboratory as a specimen analyst in 1989 prior to moving to Canada from Olathe, Kansas. 1994 Tiruneh joined 7-Eleven Canada and progressed his career through roles in Operations and Merchandising.
Raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Tiruneh holds a Certified Professional Strategic Advisor (CPSA) from Category Management Association. His wife, Halima, and their two children reside in the Vancouver, BC area.
